Mobilgear SHC 460 is a fully synthetic PAO (polyalphaolefin) industrial gear oil engineered for exceptional performance in enclosed gear drives requiring ISO VG 460 lubrication. Formulated from synthetic base fluids with exceptional oxidation and thermal properties, it delivers outstanding protection against micropitting and scuffing, extended oil life under extreme conditions and superior performance across a wide operating temperature range — capabilities that mineral gear oils at the same viscosity grade cannot match.
Slow-speed, very high-load enclosed gearboxes requiring ISO VG 460 where severe operating conditions, case-hardened gearing, high temperatures or extended drain interval targets demand a fully synthetic formulation. The premium choice for the most demanding enclosed gearbox applications in South African mining and processing plant operations.
The high viscosity index of 184 — compared to 96-97 for Mobilgear 600 XP mineral — means Mobilgear SHC 460 maintains a more stable viscosity across operating temperature changes, providing reliable film protection from cold startup through to elevated operating temperatures without the viscosity thinning that limits mineral gear oil performance in high-temperature applications.
